Emerson's Self-Reliance

1. the people then looked for self assurance and reliance within themselves 

2.a. Joint stock company

    b. conspiracy against the manhood of  every one of its members.

     c. he believes that one should care of what society thinks. all that matters is your opinion.

3. a. they were all misunderstood

    b.he uses individuals who made major conributions to scientific, philosophical, and                    religious thinking as an example of people who were misunderstood. also saying every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh were misunderstood as well.

4.That to think consistency no one will go anywhere with just that one thought;No because in life there is no consistency things changing

5. Emerson wants people to believe more in themselves than the divine. A persons vital role in life is to  make a difference and you cant do that following someone else's belief

6" To be great is to be misunderstood" ... i choose this particular saying because Emerson is trying to note that all people who were wise were misunderstood. to be misunderstood is great and one doesnt need the approval of others
