INSULTS :)!!!

Thou be'st a hideous yellow-bellied schmuck
  • To be an ugly stupid coward
Ye art a peevish fat-kidneyed hag
  • To be an iritating, gross old woman
It is true, Ye are a purpled sottish shrew
  • To be an alcoholic and to look like a mouse
Ye'd be a roguish buck-eyed younker
  •  To be a mischievous big-eyed lad
Verily thou compares to a foot-licking dirty scoundrel
  • To be a dirty, lying foot licker

MLK : Letter From Birmingham Jail {P.A.S.S.}

Purpose and Audience
1. he was telling where he was and telling us basically what he's talking about.
2. he saying that the clergymen were people who genuinely sought to do good. Its ironic because at first he's all nice then later becomes the opposite.
3. His repetition of  "us" , "we", & " you" kind of makes the reader assume that his audience is the clergymen and others.
4. the thesis is weak and vague. Bt i think it would be MJ saying why he's writing the letter and telling about his location.

Style and Structure
1. this letter entirely
2.  about midway in the the letter
3. moreover, then, now, but, in spite of , perhaps
4. it supports his opinion and  to show how this problem is widespread nationally
5.
7. He starts sweet talking and his tone has calmed. He also ask them to accept his apology if his letter is "overstating the truth and indicating an unreasonable impatience". He wants peace and for them to get along.Yes i think he is successful in doing this.

Mark Antony & TIM Activity

In the Invisible Man, Tim as we know spoke at Clifton's funeral. He  spoke good things about his brother, depicting his good qualities. He doesnt speak badly on Clifton even after he caught him selling the Sambo dolls on the street, which was betraying to TIM. Tod's death was claimed to have been a plan all along by the Brotherhood. The brotherhood didnt like how Tod was trying to be an individualist. They planned to stop his efforts by getting rid of him because he was a threat for the org. Tim's speech amps up the crowd, and they go hysterical
This is similar to Caesar's death. It tells how his conspirators feared that he was going to become a tyrant so they killed him.In Julius Ceaser's funeral, Mark Antony deliever a funeral speech.Just as Tim, he listed the good qualities of Caesar speaking good, and arouses the crowd. Both Antony and TIM's speeches were amazing. They also were phenominal spokesmen.

Writing Workshop- Pg.589

"As family, we should stand united with one another, we should love one another, and we should treat one another with due respect, kindness, and humility"- unknown
Notice how "should" is emphasized in this quote. Yes family should fufill these simple acts but uhhh ... THEY DONT. Especially mine.A family is suppose to be a union, which is close and where much love abides, and mine by definition, isnt.
That it why i have decieded to segregate myself from this " Family".  Its impossible to change who you share the same blood with or have relation to , but i will disaffilate thine self with my family.I can no longer live under the same roof with people who do not love one another with true unconditional love nor do not treat each other with duable respect and kindness.
I am here now, dismounted from this so called family of mine. I will no longer have any ties or relations with anyone in this fraudulent union. Furthermore, i shall aquire any communications to or from these people. We are to an end and i now hereby proclaim my independence. If this declaration is unpleasant in your eyes, let me make it known that i dont not attend to your thoughts or disastisfaction.

Jefferson Response

Purpose and Audience
1. Jefferson's purpose was to prove that america needed independence from the king. He list reasons why they wanted independence and gave evidence how the king didnt fufill his rightful duties.
2. His point were clear and to the point. He also backed up his argument with evidenciary support
3.The audience was probably for the people who wanted the same thing as Jefferson, and british parliament.
4. He presents his argument vary well and captures the audience's mind as well.
5.He's saying that britain knew the intentions for the country. Theyve constantly reminded them of the circumstances but theyve not been listening to the cry out for justice. For that, its the country's neccessity to pronounce the seperation.
6. His thesis is at the end

Style and Structure
1. Deductive; The list of the greviances
2.
3. All the grievances are signifcant, and further support Jefferson's argument. They show how the king didnt fufill his rightful duty; it wouldnt give the same affect
4. with these words,"WE", it shows how other people supported his beliefs

Reading Images/ JR PG. 583

Questions
1. The title basically saying that numerous of people have been greatly effected by modern science and politics;yes
2.The picture is of a prisoner in the electrical chair; The picture shows the actual display the innocent being punished
3. Logical and emotions because death row is illogical , and emotions because the ad cleary shows the authors emotions and feelings toward death row.
4. the ad points out that numerous were punished for crimes they didnt do and sentenced death row.The author feels that death row is irrational and unethical. These points are supported by evidence from The Chicago Tribute's attical "Death Row Justice derailed", quotes by Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan, and actual people who experience near death from Capital Punishment.

Journal
I think that the ad is very persuasive. It states various reliable points which are backed up by substainal evidence. Death row is unethical and irrational, and no one should have it, especially if theyre innocent.
